‘Hypochondria’ explores what it is to exist simultaneously and in equal measures inside your head and as a (mostly) functioning member of society. And that feeling you feel when you notice a strange mole and it’s probably nothing, but maybe it’s something? And the dark rabbit hole that is Web MD. Among other things.

Local playwright Claire Carson makes her professional playwriting debut with this world premiere directed by Jake Nice and starring Holly Settoon,Yusef Brotha Manjani Seevers, Braden Joseph Socia, Abigail Birkett, and Christine Sanders.


ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Claire Carson (Playwright)

Claire Carson is a local actor, playwright published poet. She is a company member of House Party Theatre where she has served as an actor, sound designer, and playwright. Recent local credits include (House Party Theatre) #Basic, (House Party Theatre) Thirsty Thursday, (Shakespeare in the Bar) “Much Ado About Nothing,” and Michelle With Wet Eyeballs, which she wrote, directed and self- produced. Claire was a member of the Dallas Playwrights' Workshop at DTC, and received her BFA in Theater Studies from Southern Methodist University.


ABOUT THE TRIBE

The Tribe is a theatre collective serving one artist at a time to cultivate new work in Dallas, providing collective support in individualized ways. The Tribe throws its heart, mind, and labor to one question, "What does this artist need?", and then provides resources and support to fulfill that need. Whether it is an incubation, a workshop, a reading, or a creative brainstorm in a living room, The Tribe exists to provide individualized support one artist at a time. The Tribe’s goal is to support local artists, challenge their doubts, and to help make them more them — because we know their work will enrich the Dallas cultural landscape.

Winners of a 2016 Dallas Observer Mastermind Award, past projects by The Tribe include the world premiere production of Ophelia Underwater, a staged reading of Widows by Brigham Mosley, a staged reading of Ophelia Underwater by Janielle Kastner, a workshop of Lil’ by Brigham Mosley and performed by Katherine Bourne, a devised theater piece in Deep Ellum featuring an ensemble of local performers, two cabarets featuring performances by over twenty local artists, and a solo salon of short solo performances by six different artists.

The Tribe’s Producing Members are Katherine Bourne Taylor, Ruben Carrazana, Janielle Kastner, Dylan Key, Brigham Mosley, and David Price.
